Using Eclipses to Predict Love

With clients looking for the timing of their next love relationship, there are a few predictive techniques I employ in their aid. Planetary transits to the natal chart are the obvious first step. Any planetary transit to the 7th house (or likewise, to the ruler of the 7th house) will create a very specific type of pull, depending on the planets involved, towards a relationship resembling the nature of that planet. A 5th house transit, or planets stimulated therein, can bring short term or karmic lovers. Transits to Venus offer a new blush of relationship energy - and stimulate new urges, desires, and feeling perceptions about relationships generally. Progressions and solar arcs function similarly, and often interchangeably. All good techniques, but I’ve also found that eclipses reliably pinpoint cycles of relationship activity -even when nothing else is happening.

Eclipses deliver growth in 18, 9 and 4.5 year intervals. Once an eclipse contacts an important chart point (which you can determine by identifying the year you formed a significant partnership), they will keep aspecting it every 4. 5 years going forward and back. In this way, if my client is looking for a significant relationship, I always ask: when did you last have one? Eclipses are all about history, repeating (thanks Propellerheads!).

Ground Zero, Love 1987-1988 

From across the room at a small party, I saw him. My love radar locked in. He had mystery, just enough to give my Sun-Pluto T-square intrigued. Dark hair, eerily pale skin and leather jacket, as he spun records at the turntable, our eyes met, briefly. A jolt of electricity ran from head to toe. Yes, I liked Mr. Sir Mix-a-Lot a lot.

A year later at a summertime house party, the thumping bass-line booming from the sub-woofer speakers had nothing on the pounding of my heart. We both shared an unusual interest in vampires, which suited my anything but the usual in love Venus-Uranus-Moon t-square. A bonus: that he was mysterious right down to the pointed incisors. I fell in total and utter fifteen year old, love. My parents also announced their divorce in 1988.

<1989, Interlude. The Year of the Big, Fat Smashing Break-Up

Since you’re dying to know...the needful love I shared with my vampire boyfriend sustained me for a year and a half. It kept me from reeling in pain from my parent's divorce or feeling anything at all. When it ended, my heart felt like an empty hollowed shell.

4.5 Years Later, 1995

At the nine year mark, a true love came again, but this time I could see that it was better to be alone, than be in a relationship without a true meeting of soul- and be lonely.

18 years later, 2004-2005

History repeated again, though not in quite the same way.  I saw him walking down a hall, and that electric feeling came over me once again. My first thought was, ‘here comes trouble.’ We were casually in one another’s lives for a year before we began dating. 

I met my soul mate in June 2004, but wouldn’t begin dating until summer 2005.
