“It is strange how we hold on to pieces of the past while we wait for our futures.”

With the planet of beauty and love now in the sensitive waters of Cancer, our affinity for family, tradition and the past is pronounced. We're craving cozy connections with others -- especially those that remind us of our roots. We may easily find ourselves longing for the past and feeling exceptionally nostalgic. Cancer rules motherhood and home, so our domestic desires can kick in. We're also more concerned about what feels nurturing. In fact, the mantra of Cancer is "I feel", so we're all paying more attention to what feels good and what doesn't.

Since we're all feeling ultra sensitive and emotionally reactive, it's easy to pitch a fit when what's actually needed is more self-control over our moods. It's all too easy to take things personally now, which could get us into all kinds of hot water in our relationships. Our moody, inner tantrum-thrower is likely to kick, demanding to be babied a bit.

On the plus side, we're more in touch with our feelings, intuition and feminine side. We are craving emotional security and a sense of home. Just make sure that you aren't smother-mothering your partner during this time. Although it's wonderful to be nurturing and to be nurtured, when relationships become too parental, the romance is totally killed.

Attending to the needs of your beloved can be sexy if done in the right way, but if you start feeling like the mommy or daddy, it's time to cut the apron strings. This is a time to cultivate our sensitivity and reconnect to home and family without regressing or infantilizing our partners.
