Watch Me Pull A Rabbit Out of a Hat- Aries Boss

Watch Me Pull A Rabbit Out of a Hat- Aries Boss Cienpies Design / Illustrations | Dreamstime.com
I originally posted this to this site last year, but given I have very little new to say on the subject of Aries Bosses, have re-worked it only slightly...
There are those that quite unkindly express the opinion that the Aries boss is like a seagull- flies in, makes a lot of noise and a lot of mess and flies back out again.
I have to be careful how I respond on this one, as I do, in fact, work for the quintessential Aries Boss. Yes he does fly in and make a lot of noise and a lot of mess, but before he flies back out again he makes the workplace somewhere exciting to be. Frustrating? Yes. Exasperating? Absolutely. Exhausting? You bet. But also headache inducing, impulsive, impatient, charismatic and bold. When he is gone, the place seems sort of empty and quiet- but I will deny ever saying so!
Aries leads and expects that everyone else will follow- and quite often they do- often without knowing why. Aries inspires through action, through going where no one else has previously dared, for looking outside the square, for taking measured risks and for his absolute loyalty to those who share his vision. The Aries Boss truly walks the talk and will not demand any more of you than what he would expect of himself.
Too impatient for middle management, he is great at mobilising effort behind what others would write off as a lost cause, and in doing so is capable of turning around a business that is well and truly in the doldrums.
Extremely competitive, Aries Boss hates to lose and will often win his point simply by exhausting his opponent. He may have problems seeing any viewpoint other than his own. This tendency to march straight in and take over may result in resentment where negotiation would give a better outcome, although when he learns to fight only those battles that matter, the victory is his.
He is frustrated by people who don’t think as quickly on their feet as he does, and has little or no time for laziness and those employees requiring constant instruction and direction. He respects honesty and despises liars. He rewards creativity and steers clear of pity parties. He doesn’t have time to wait around and see what happens. Long winded explanations and emails tend to just get trashed (hint: if you need him to read all the way to the end either pop a “this is a long email & you need to read to the end” warning on it or, tell him there is vital gossip contained halfway through).
Heroic when inspired, and destructive and plain annoying when bored or un-challenged, Aries Boss is many things to many people. Easy to like and just as easy to be exasperated by, for those that love the ride and appreciate the energy, he is inspiring. For those who love endless graft, stable goal posts and resent change, he is a cowboy. To those who shoot themselves in the foot in his presence he is the enemy and to those on the wrong side of the negotiating table he is frustrating.  But for those rare times when he has nothing up his sleeve, but can still pull a rabbit out of a hat? Pure magic.
Naturally the opinions expressed in this blog bear no resemblance to any present boss that I may or may not have and anyway, my performance appraisal has already been locked away for the year...
