June is a Mercury retrograde month. Mercury retrogrades come like clockwork, three times a year, three weeks at a time. It's a time to pull back from the rush, and take stock of what you are doing. Consider what's worth keeping, and what can be discarded. This one lasts from June 7 to July 2.
Before Mercury begins his backward journey, he stops and pauses. Such turning points are called "stations" by astrologers, meaning "to stand." Planets, from the word "wandering star" are the moving elements of the cosmic dance. When they pause for a breath, they become extremely potent factors.
The Mercury retrograde begins while the elusive planet Neptune is also stationing to turn retrograde on June 9 (a retrograde which lasts until November). Two planets, taking a time out together, always brings a moment for some interesting conversations.

Mercury, the divine messenger, is the one who connects the heavens an earth. He travelled freely from the realms of the divine denizens to the underworld, ferrying messages and escorting travelers. Neptune, god of the waters, has come to represent in astrology all of the wordless, unbounded mysteries of the deeper Self. Neptune is the land of dreams, inspiration, altered states and all other realms best illustrated in poetry, song and metaphor.
In creative conversation, these planets offer a hotline to the unconscious realms. Neptune dissolves the boundaries between worlds; Mercury the traveler gives words to the unspoken and unspeakable. Like water walking, their miraculous alchemy allows you to give form to your divine inspirations.
June is the perfect time to start a new meditation or contemplation practice. Whatever form works for you – journaling, writing poetry, mindfulness, yoga, meditation – June is an excellent month for strengthening your conscious connection to the presence of spirit and soul.
