On December 2, the new Moon moves into adventurous Sagittarius.

New Moons usher in beginnings. They provide us with an opportunity to declare a new chapter and fresh start in various realms of our lives, including our health. Each new Moon emphasizes the themes related to the sign in which it occurs. By addressing different realms of well-being during each of the year’s new Moons, we can create a holistic and ongoing self-care approach -- one that’s in sync with the celestial cycles -- which can enhance our vitality and promote our stellar wellness.

Sagittarius is constantly on a quest to understand the bigger picture. With "Why?" being a favorite question during this time, we've got the opportunity to seek out the answers to health concerns that have been on our minds. As Sagittarius is a Fire sign, it's a time where we've got more vim and vigor to go after our wellness goals.

The sign of Sagittarius is associated with the liver, hips, thighs and buttocks. As such, these are great arenas to focus upon during this new Moon.

The liver is vitally important to health, performing an array of functions including detoxification of chemicals, production of bile and storage of the energy source known as glycogen. A key step in supporting liver health is to reduce exposure to chemicals, since it's the liver that works so hard to break them down. Two keys measures to lightening your toxin load include choosing organic over conventionally grown produce and reducing your use of synthetic household cleaners, opting for those that contain more natural ingredients. Set Wellness Goals
Sagittarius inspires us to look to the horizon, setting our sights upon a vista towards which we are motivated to quest. For example, note the daily servings of vegetables you want to eat, the amount of pounds you want to lose, the frequency of your new meditation practice, the number of times each week you'll go to the gym, etc. Being specific can help to ground your visions, enhancing their opportunity to become your future reality.

Giving your hips a bit of TLC is really important to strengthening them and enhancing their range of motion. Pilates and gyrotonics can be great exercise systems for joint mobilization and muscle lengthening. If yoga makes your hips feel a little tweaky, find a teacher who can suggest postures that won't enhance mobility at the sake of stability. As Sagittarius energy is free and fun-loving, it's a great time to shake those hips and dance … a wonderful way to vitalize this important part of your body.
