In the aftermath of Sandy, it looks like the presidential election will be a somber affair, what with a heavy-duty Saturn and Sun in sextile to intense Pluto, indicating a conservative, weighted event.
The Scorpio Sun squaring a Leo Moon exactly as the polls close shows that the voting public will be deeply divided between their heads and their hearts. The Uranus-Pluto square tied into Venus suggests that emotions will be running high.
Mercury also goes retrograde just after the polls close, which suggests glitches in counting the votes. Jupiter is in Gemini, as it was in 2000 when G.W. Bush fought to grab the White House back five weeks after the election, which fell in the middle of a Mercury retrograde phase as well. John F. Kennedy’s win in 1960 also occurred on a Mercury retrograde election, so this is by no means a postive omen for the time ahead.
Predicting elections is tricky business, and can’t be decided based only on the candidates’ Sun signs. It means weighing in on other astrological aspects in their charts as well. Usually a political winner has strong Jupiter influences, since it is the planet of luck, success and confidence.
When Obama won in 2008, he had a real boost from Jupiter. This election, he lacks any such helpful aspects.
Jupiter has had a positive influence on Romney since October, and his chart reveals that he’ll continue to catch lucky breaks through late November.
Obama may find himself wrestling with inner demons. His life will feel like a collision with the fates over the next three months, and he'll likely be frustrated from December into January 2013. There are signs that his working life will peak in 2014, but that could be in a different field altogether.
Nothing, of course, is ever absolutely certain. Obama could win, albeit reluctantly, since in his heart-of-hearts it’s very likely he doesn’t want to soldier through one of the worst economic crisis ever.
If Romney becomes president, he's destined to run into deeper, darker waters than Obama did, as his chart shows that he’ll be suppressed by events in 2013, panicked and feeling like a failure by 2014 -- and completely uncertain by 2015.
