Your Emotional Overdraft and 2nd House Solutions

by Jo Tracey March 26, 2010 03:35 AM EST

This has not been a good week. Which, considering the fleeting transits I am having, is surprising really.

The week started with Mars trining natal Saturn- supposedly good for kicking goals. After a busy busy weekend and the onset of a head cold, I was flat out getting through the day let alone stepping up to the plate, grabbing the ball, reaching out to someone, and running with it. If there was a bus I should have been on, it just wasn’t happening.
Along comes Tuesday and Venus return day. The one day a year when I should be feeling pretty oh so pretty. The blurb on my automated Facebook forecast talked about meeting someone whose touch melts me & gooey yummy chocolately love at first sight. Nope. Nothing but red nose, watery eyes, a voice that couldn’t rise above a very crackly double bass and other general “symptoms” such as feeling old and fat and woe is me. If there is such a thing as fish flu, I invented it (Dr House, I hope you are taking notes).
With Saturn opposing natal Saturn, I probably shouldn’t have expected much more than a dull grey. And I certainly did, despite the head cold, manage to deal with the hassles of the current project I am working on. But where was the light promised by the fleeting transits? All that gooey yumminess promised by Venus did not exist. Uranus is currently sitting as close to my Moon as possible, so where is the excitement? Certainly not in the cold medication I am scoffing.
But then this afternoon, a couple of hours of pointless, fun (and, naturally, politically incorrect) email banter from the direction of an Aries colleague made Friday afternoon seem achievable and my glass half full again. And that made sense as well. With Aries on the cusp of my 2nd house, when I am under stress and need to replenish my emotional bank account, that is the direction I look- to Aries people and Aries types of activities. Much better for me and my bathroom scales than wallowing in a fishy way through comfort eating and drinking.
In general, if your second house is ruled by a fire sign, get moving. Whatever lights your fire, so to speak. You will also benefit from creative expression as a release. This will apply if your Sun or Rising Sign is Pisces, Scorpio, Cancer.
Earth second houses benefit from getting in touch, mindfully, with their bodies. Consider a massage or other bodywork. Alternatively, feel your connection to the earth during a walk or the earth in your hands in the garden. This is you if your Sun or Rising sign is Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius.
Music, books and socialising of all types- virtual or physical- release tension when there is an Air sign on the cusp of the second house. Taurus, Virgo & Capricorn- are you paying attention?
When water rules the second, space is provided via a bath, a swim, some spiritual time out. Some head space time is needed if you are Gemini, Libra or Aquarius.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will look at how each sign deals with stress and some ideas to cope with what life throws at us and still fit into our jeans.
