Happy New Year! Now, let's make sure that's exactly the joyful case!
On New Year's Day itself, make time to burn juniper incense -- or even dried or crumbled juniper -- in any non-flammable container. As you walk through your house in a clockwise fashion, beginning and ending at the front door, allow the juniper smoke to clear your worries and woes away, while also appreciating that this sacred ritual will invite scores of wonderful opportunities to come right through your door! As always when performing any sort of ritual cleansing, be sure to open as many windows and doors as possible to usher out last year's tired energies.
As you end up back at your front door, offer a silent blessing to (and for) your home; then, bless everyone who lives there, too. Create the intention that all who live under your roof -- as well as that roof itself! -- will experience a year filled to the brim with health, happiness and prosperity. After all, these are not only the Three Blessings of Feng Shui, but also what I wish for each and every one of you ... in spades! SHUI FASHION
It's that time of the new year again! No, not the annual vow to lose those stubborn twenty pounds, and certainly not the resolution to stop obsessing over growing another year older.
Nope, what I'm talking about here is how you can de-clutter your life and refresh your spirit by simply clearing out your closet!
Of course, I'm not going to just leave you hanging. So, here are some standard Feng Shui remedies that will open up a world of opportunity for you -- if you can lighten your fashion load.
Your first step is to remove your rose-colored glasses and get ready to be brutally honest. Set aside that old axiom that says, If you haven't worn it in the last two years, give it away
. That still may apply in a sense, but my next piece of advice is even more streamlined.
Studies show that we wear only approximately 20 percent of our wardrobe, while we let the other 80 percent languish. So, separate your clothes into the 20 percent you do
wear, then assess which of the remaining garments can go. You don't have to ditch the entire 80 percent; just get a good start going. Why? Because these clothes are using space that could be better served by allowing emptiness to fill your life with exciting opportunities.
The easiest way to begin this purge is to look at the colors of the clothes in the excess pile. Your tastes tend to change as you mature, so if you don't vibe with the colors of certain outfits, it's probably time to let those go. Donate to your heart's content, then get ready to receive all the good karma coming your way!
And finally, realize that this is also a special love Shui remedy as well. If you're looking to find the perfect partner, creating space in your closet will show the Universe how serious your intention actually is!
Either way, donating clothes you no longer love -- or wear -- will make for a fortunate and lucky life! SHUI HEALTH
So now that the holidays are behind us, so is, seemingly, all your vim, vigor and vitality, too. If you feel like burning the candle at both ends throughout December has left you completely burned out, then this month's Feng Shui health remedies are just for you!
You see, I hear frequent complaints from people that the ol' get-up-and-go has gotten up and left. And this time of year, such concerns become particularly acute. So, let's take a look at a pair of fatigue-fighters and energy-boosters that are sure to bring your bloom back so you can start 2012 on a healthy and happy note!
One instant rejuvenator works especially well for any early-morning meetings that rudely come after a late night out. If you feel as if you simply cannot keep your eyes open one more minute, press your knees together and exert as much pressure as you can muster; at the same time, press your elbows against your sides. Do both of these exercises for 10-15 seconds. Once you release the pressure, you will have greatly improved your blood circulation. Repeat this sequence three times for a drowsiness eliminator that will have you bright-eyed -- and maybe even bushy-tailed! -- in no time at all.
There's also the yogi way to wake up and feel restored, refreshed and revivified. Since many traditions maintain that positive energy is inhaled through the right nostril, hold your left thumb against your left nostril as you breathe deeply through your right nostril. Bring your breath all the way down into your belly, then exhale through your mouth in eight short, staccato breaths. Do this for nine consecutive breaths, and I guarantee you will feel healthy, awake, inspired and good to go, go, go! SHUI RECIPE
2012's Chinese New Year celebrates the Year of the Dragon, the animal that's considered to be the single most auspicious in the Chinese zodiac!
There are nine dragons, according to legend, and each is a celestial creature holding both sway and largesse over an individual aspiration of humanity. All nine dragons are believed to be blessed with the power of harnessing wind and water -- incidentally, the translation of both "Feng" and "Shui" -- while also possessing the ability to transform those elements into Chi, or the dragons' precious cosmic breath. The five-clawed dragon is probably the single most potent symbol of good fortune in the entire Feng Shui pantheon, so by placing a statue or image of one along the east wall of your living room, you'll invite both wealth and success into your life! In fact, this particular dragon epitomizes the apex of success and financial fortune.

Winter and quick travel escapes always seem to go hand-in-hand, but this month's travel Shui actually has to do with your feet!
See, Feng Shui dictates that if you're about to embark on any sort of journey, you should take a shower or bath almost immediately before departure. If circumstances prevent this, at least make time to wash your hands and feet before leaving home.
This philosophy becomes more emphatic whenever air travel is involved. Since feet represent travel in Feng Shui, washing your feet before boarding a plane is a powerful symbolic gesture in hopes of enjoying a safe and easy flight. Bathing your entire body, meanwhile, will not only wash right down the drain any negative energies that may be clinging to you, but also any potentially bad Chi coming your way.
Bon voyage! SHUI RANDOM
There are some secret --- but also very successful -- Feng Shui cures that promise powerful manifestation energies, as well as the ability to make dreams come true. As we begin another new year, let's take a look at one that promises to do just that!
Feng Shui says that a very potent way to attract opportunity is to surround an image of your Chinese zodiac animal with eight wish-fulfilling "jewels." These jewels are, in fact, crystals fashioned into the shape of diamonds or other precious gems symbolizing the real thing. They can be different shapes, sizes and colors.
To manifest as much potential as possible for yourself in 2012, place the image of your Chinese zodiac animal in the center, then arrange the eight jewels around it. This philosophy dictates that you then position the object either on your desk or as a prominently displayed part of your living room decor.
Once properly displayed, attach one wish to each of the jewels. Then, each time you look upon that specific jewel, know that soon -- very soon! -- your desire will come true!
And, well, if that doesn't start your year off right, I just don't know what will. Shine, baby, shine!
