April 14: The sun is square Pluto

 Toning down, and turning inward

The sun is square Pluto at 4:07 a.m.

The sun in bold and individualistic Aries comes into a hard square aspect with Pluto in Capricorn early this morning. This edgy aspect is likely to be felt throughout the day, turning our perceptions toward facing the difficult circumstances of our times. Pluto, the planet of slow, irreversible change is re-working our world through the Capricorn archetype, which symbolizes earthly authority, power, and money systems. There may be some specific wake up calls in regard to these topics today, personally and collectively, that will call on us to take some swift, defensive, Aries-style action.

The moon is sextile Neptune at 5:10 a.m., and conjunct Pluto at 3:02 p.m.

The waning moon in melancholy Capricorn forms a collaborative sextile with Neptune in Pisces, blending the pensive mood of the moment with Neptune’s dreamy qualities. The two forces work together in a potentially fruitful way to help us visualize new, creative ideas. It could also be important, however, to beware falling into daydreams about worst-case scenarios as Neptune tends to make what we imagine feel very real. While we need to be sober, prepared, and realistic now, it is not emotionally healthy or helpful to brood on situations that have not happened yet, and may never occur. In the afternoon, the moon’s sextile shifts to a conjunction with Pluto, activating a brief passage of deep reflection on the changes of our times, and their deep psychological impacts.

The moon is square (4th quarter) the sun at 3:56 p.m., and conjunct Jupiter at 4:47 p.m.

Late afternoon, the moon in grounded Capricorn forms a square aspect with the primal Aries sun, activating the last quarter phase of the lunar cycle. This is the time of the month where we take some final, decisive action, the last release of effort before we begin toning down and turning inward toward the new moon phase. This catalyzing square aspect between the moon and the sun mirrors the square of the first quarter moon on April 1. Whatever was begun or set into motion on and around that day, may be in the process be wrapping up and concluding today.  It could be interesting to reflect back on this passage now. Within the hour, the moon moves through the sky to conjoin Jupiter in Capricorn, amplifying our emotional awareness for the evening.
