April 15: The sun is square Jupiter

Surrendering to new realities

The moon enters Aquarius at 12:37 a.m., and is conjunct Saturn at 3:21 a.m.

The moon leaves earthy Capricorn to enter airy, objective Aquarius shortly after midnight, expanding the stern Saturnian mood into collective, societal concerns. Shortly after, the moon conjoins Saturn itself in Aquarius, further amplifying the aloof and intellectual expression of the Aquarian archetype in our social awareness. It could be that the emotions of the moment are surrendering to the realities of the moment, creating an opportunity to restructure our plans and systems with the necessary detachment and logic required.

The sun is square Jupiter at 3:59 a.m.

Shortly after, the sun in bold Aries forms a square aspect with Jupiter in sober Capricorn, heightening our perceptions and highlighting actions that we are taking. Square aspects tend to have an amplifying effect, exaggerating the planetary energies involved. In this case, it’s the impulsive energies of spring chafing against the sober and contained growth that Jupiter in Capricorn portrays now. The more we try to push at the obstacles in our way, the more push back we feel from the limitations that are on us all now. Spring is typically a time of opening and renewal, yet this feels stunted and delayed during the crisis upon us all.

The moon is square Uranus at 12:09 p.m., sextile Mercury at 3:41 p.m., trine Venus at 8:29 p.m., and conjunct Mars at 10:42 p.m.

In the afternoon, the moon runs a gauntlet of aspects, a sort of emptying out of activity today, before becoming void of course tomorrow. First, the Aquarian moon forms a square with unpredictable Uranus in Taurus, creating an edgy, emotional unease. By late afternoon, the moon forms a helpful sextile with Mercury now in forthright Aries. This aspect may provide a release valve for the emotional tensions of the day, and support communications. By nightfall, the moon forms a trine with Venus is playful Gemini, giving a sense of ease and inspiration after a busy day. Lastly, a late-night conjunction of the moon with active Mars in Aquarius bookends the day, perhaps bringing some emotional resolve and clarity to the duties the early morning moon/Saturn conjunction alerted us to.
