August 16: A Mystic Landscape
The moon is trine Neptune at 5:28 a.m.
The sun is trine Mars at 7:02 a.m.
The moon is opposite Pluto at 10:24 a.m.
Sunday is one of August’s most cosmically busy days, with the first aspect beginning just before sunrise. The moon in emotive Cancer forms a water trine with Neptune in compassionate Pisces, a flowing aspect that gives the early morning hours a dreamy, otherworldly quality. Many of us may find it easier to tap into psychic currents, and waves of intuition now. Our daydreams become an immersive mystic landscape, where it seems we could drift and wander forever.
A little while later, the astral mood heats up as the bold sun in Leo forms a fire trine with Mars in fearless Aries. Both the sun and Mars are in their home signs, radiating their maximal powers of illumination and initiative. This activating trine will likely stimulate physical movement and expression, and also jump-start our creativity. It feels like a day to leap before looking and take a risk where we may have held back before.
Three hours later, the moon drifts on to form an opposition with Pluto in Capricorn. This polarity between the moon and the asteroid of transformation may bring potent feelings up to the surface. We may feel drawn to explore the mysteries of the soul or may have to face a hidden truth that is sure to have a ripple effect on our emotions.
The moon is square Mars at 12:32 p.m.
Venus is square Chiron at 4:59 p.m.
The moon is opposite Saturn at 4:59 p.m., and moon void of course begins
Just after noon, the moon in defensive Cancer forms a square with Mars in reactive Aries. Both the moon and Mars are in their home signs, which heightens their planetary powers. The square aspect brings the sensitive moon and relentless Mars into conflict, causing flares in anger and hurt feelings. This aspect may even be experienced as an internal state of emotional frustration that although may be uncomfortable for a few hours, could end up catalyzing change.
Venus, also in nurturing Cancer, adds to the melee when she comes into an edgy square with Chiron, who is also in Aries alongside Mars. This second square heightens the relational frictions of the day and may result in a loved one triggering an old wound, or vice versa. It’s an emotionally raw afternoon, which is not helped by the moon, forming an opposition with stern Saturn at the same time. This opposition adds a layer of crossed boundaries to contend with, reinforcing these for our preservation.
The moon void of course also begins now, which is for the best, as the current mood does not bode well for new beginnings.
Mercury is trine Mars at 10:29 p.m.
The moon enters Leo at 10:38 p.m., and moon void of course ends
Our opportunity to smooth over a rough day of hurt feelings and frustrations comes late tonight when Mercury in brave Leo forms a supportive trine with Mars in headstrong Aries. This aspect is a refreshing shift after Mercury was in a stressful square with Mars for much of July. By now, we have sorted out what we need to say, and the message gets across loud and clear.
A few minutes later, the moon enters courageous Leo, and the moon void of course ends. Tomorrow is poised to be full of activity, productivity, and inspiration.
