August 31: Elusive Emotions

August 31: Elusive Emotions

The moon is inconjunct Mercury at 10:14 a.m.

The waxing moon in Aquarius forms an inconjunct angle with Mercury in Virgo. Aquarius and Virgo have nothing elementally or modally in common on the zodiac wheel, so as signs, they do not directly relate, connect, or blend. The light, airy, and somewhat aloof emotional mood of the moment is out of phase with Mercury’s powerful, precise energies in Virgo, giving the start of the day an unusual and uncanny atmosphere.

This inconjunct may appear as a disconnect between our emotional vocabulary and the elusive emotional states we are experiencing. We realize that emotions are very hard to define with words and that our language is often only an approximation of what is truly going on inside.

The moon is inconjunct Venus at 3:28 p.m.

The Aquarian moon forms another inconjunct angle, this time with Venus in emotive Cancer. As with this morning, we have another example of two signs with little in common in the zodiac. Aquarius is experimental and eccentric, preferring to deal with feelings as curious abstractions, where Cancer is the prime sign of raw vulnerability. These two approaches may create some dissonance when trying to connect in our romantic relationships for a little while in the late afternoon. Venus is working powerfully to heal and merge us, as the Aquarian moon dodges this process, preferring to be the offbeat outsider. We may encounter this dynamic when dealing with someone we love or hope to relate to more.

The moon is sextile Mars at 9:56 p.m., and moon void of course begins

The last lunar aspect of August is a sextile between the moon in eccentric Aquarius, and Mars in headstrong Aries. This aspect is a highly stimulating one that is sure to activate and amplify emotions and physical energy. The moon is nearly full and will be complete tomorrow in sensitive Pisces, so this is the last burst of action on the waxing side of the lunar cycle. We may be feeling inspired, emotionally confident, and even a bit restless as we sense that change is in the air.

The moon void of course begins now until just after midnight, so even though this sextile is sure to produce some brave and impulsive energy, it will be best to wait until tomorrow before initiating any new projects.

All the aspects mentioned are calculated in Standard Pacific Time, for greater accuracy please adjust to your own location
