July 4: Cleanse, Release, and Let Go

July 4: Cleanse, Release, and Let Go

The moon is square Mars at 4:28 a.m.

The moon is opposite Mercury at 11:13 a.m.

The early morning is infused with restlessness and emotional agitation as the moon in somber Capricorn forms a triggering square aspect with Mars in impulsive Aries. Moon/Mars squares always carry some friction, but this one may feel uniquely edgy and frustrating. The moon is in its “detriment” in Capricorn, a place where the typical emotive energies of the moon are not able to flow freely, leading to emotional blockages or depression.

Mars in Aries is especially potent, reactive, and volatile, as this is the empowering fire sign home of the warrior planet. Both planets, together in this hard square aspect, set the stage for confrontations and misunderstandings. The good news is that this passage is fleeting, but we should still be aware of this aspect’s potential pitfalls and understand that we are all under an unusual level of stress this morning.

By late morning, the moon in earthy Capricorn forms an opposition with Mercury retrograde in Cancer. This polarity may present an opportunity to have constructive discussions to help clarify any of the frustrations of the morning. Mercury in the nurturing and protective sign of Cancer may help to draw out the hidden or repressed feelings, that the moon in Capricorn represents, by helping us to access our emotional vocabulary.

The moon is trine Uranus at 3:19 p.m.

By late afternoon, the moon in structured Capricorn forms a beneficial earth trine with Uranus in Taurus. After the crossed wires and emotional discussions of the day, there may be an opportunity to approach our stressors and challenges in a new, innovative way. The moon trine Uranus opens the door to a new awareness we can access once we begin honestly dealing with the potent, emotional realities that the moon in Capricorn represents.

A full moon/lunar eclipse in Capricorn at 9:44 p.m.

Late at night, the full moon in pragmatic Capricorn passes through the shadow of the earth, forming July’s penumbral lunar eclipse. This is the last eclipse in Capricorn that we will have for some time since the lunar node axis has now shifted to Gemini and Sagittarius.

The eclipse seasons of the previous two years have held eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn, bringing energies of purification and growth to this axis in our birth charts, and catalyzing world changes that are represented by the themes of these signs. Tonight is a final farewell to the difficult work that we have gone through, in matters of emotional authenticity and material security. We have an opportunity to cleanse, release, and let go of any patterns or perceptions that are lingering or clouding our ability to be present. There is more work ahead over the next six months, as the shadow of this eclipse suggests, but the focus will now be shifting to other areas.

All the aspects mentioned are calculated in Standard Pacific Time, for greater accuracy please adjust to your own location.
