March 21: The moon enters Pisces, and Saturn enters Aquarius

The moon enters Pisces at 5:33 a.m.

Early morning the moon leaves cool and crisp Aquarius to enter the deep empathic waters of Pisces, shifting the mood from one that was more outwardly curious and inquisitive, to one that is interior, reflective, and meditative. The current lunar phase is balsamic, appearing as a sliver-crescent in the sky. This is the last stage of light before the moon goes fully dark and brings the lunar cycle to a close for another month. There may be one last action, one last commitment to attend to now, before we settle our energies down for a few days of rest. It’s important to manage our vitality, and not overextend ourselves too much if it can be helped. Since this lunar shift coincided with the weekend, it may be opportune for many to withdraw and reflect for now.

The moon is conjunct Mercury at 1:39 pm, and sextile Uranus at 2:51 p.m.

In the afternoon, the moon in soulful Pisces conjoins Mercury, who is now moving direct once again through the dreamy two-fishes’ sign. This melding of deeply emotive lunar forces with the world of the mind is conducive to visionary insight and meditation. It could be that by sitting still and going inward, there are treasures to mine, in the form of ideas and flashes of creativity. This could be a very musical combination for many of us, perhaps enjoying nostalgic music, singing, or surrendering to a sound bath while laying down comfortably. These receptive acts could yield some surprising breakthroughs and insights as the Pisces moon comes into a sextile with radical Uranus in Taurus. This afternoon, we could find ourselves in a profound conversation that stimulates new awareness.

Saturn enters Aquarius at 8:58 p.m.

By nightfall, the planet of duty and responsibility leaves its earthy home sign of Capricorn, for the first time in over 2 years, to enter its other home sign in airy, social justice-seeking Aquarius. This shift is significant for many reasons but is just a foreshadow of the next three years, as Saturn will retrograde out of Aquarius on July 1 back into Capricorn again until December 17. After that, we will be officially in new territory. The next few months of Saturn restructuring our world from Aquarius gives us a taste of a new collective era that we are on the cusp of exploring that is sure to be revolutionary as it unfolds.
