November 9: An Aspirational Day

November 9: An Aspirational Day

The moon is sextile Mercury at 3:05 a.m., and moon void of course begins

Early in the morning, the Leo moon relaxes into a sextile with Mercury in Libra, beginning the moon’s void of course. This transit is optimal for socializing, but since many of us will be asleep in the pre-dawn hours, our dreamscapes are likely to be infused with happy childhood memories; recollections of times when we felt accepted, validated, or legitimized by others. The specifics of these recollections (the time period, setting, or the nuances of conversation) are for the most part irrelevant. What lingers is the overall impression of contentment and peace.

The moon enters Virgo at 5:30 a.m., and moon void of course ends

Venus is opposite Mars retrograde at 8:08 a.m.

The moon ends its void of course at daybreak when it shifts into analytical Virgo, aligning our emotional and cerebral intentions through study, detail work, and routines, and creating within us a desire to be of service. Under this influence, we tend to over-intellectualize our feelings, so trusting gut instincts serve to clue us into legitimate physical imbalances or suspect situations.

Following this shift, Venus in Libra forms an opposition with Mars retrograde in Aries, magnifying relational tension. Venus is how we give of ourselves and Mars is how we take. Many of us are indoctrinated into the cult of “niceness,” and will sacrifice our personal goals in order to please.

However, a good deal of us represents the opposite camp, too consumed with winning and seeing our ambitions accomplished to care much about others or their feelings. During this transit, we can counterbalance problematic behaviors by adding more weight to the opposite side of the scale. Perhaps this involves accepting the help of others and aiding their projects in return, or it could mean saying “no” to inappropriate demands to focus on our own needs.

The sun is trine Neptune retrograde at 9:11 p.m.

At nightfall, the Scorpio sun and Neptune retrograde are trine, making us introspective and empathetic. This influence creates the impression that we are all connected as a human family—just be sure you are employing sound judgment in addition to compassion, as we can easily sympathize with the wrong “victims” at this time. Assess your ideals. How are your contributions helping to create the kind of world you want to live in, or conversely, perpetuating conditions that you would like to improve? Our ability to connect with mystical and transcendent concepts makes this an excellent transit for making art or music, or deepening a spiritual practice.
