The 2023 Spring Equinox Anchors Major & Long-Term Planetary Transits

March 20, 2023

A major new beginning is in store! On Monday, March 20, at 2:24 p.m. Pacific Time / 5:24 p.m. Eastern Time, the sun enters Aries. In Western Astrology, this is the beginning of the Astrological New Year, an Ostara celebrated by astrologers and mystics worldwide!

While this is a yearly occurrence, the 2023 Spring Equinox feels very different due to the sign change of the two greater malefics, Saturn and Pluto. Since Saturn entered Pisces on March 7 and Pluto enters Aquarius on March 23, the in-between Spring Equinox anchors these massive energies. Life as we know it is changing dramatically, bringing endings as well as new beginnings.

The Luminaries

To predict future social trends, astrologers analyze the chart of the exact moment the sun enters Aries. This chart will be active until the next time the sun enters the next cardinal sign, which is Cancer, on June 21. At its entrance into Aries, the sun will be sitting next to Mercury, the cosmic messenger. Over the next three months, information previously hidden for some time will come to light.

The moon will still be in its balsamic phase, as it will renew itself the next day once it catches up to the sun to form the first of two Aries new moons in a row. In astrology, the dark phase of the moon is one of the most magical but also the most transformative. By not reflecting any light from the sun, it instigates us to see things for how they are, exposing what needs to be ended or destroyed and not taken into the future.

The moon is in Pisces, sitting between Saturn and Neptune, between the builder and the dissolver. From now until June 21, and even beyond, a lot of the structures of our lives will disappear, collectively and personally. The good news is that this will create more room for imagination and experimentation. Moon-Neptune connections can also be intuitive and inspiring for those who can open their minds to change.

The Shadow Side of Technology: Pluto in Aquarius

Big-time change is coming! Two days after the Spring Equinox, the master of transformation, Pluto, enters Aquarius. While Pluto will not stay in this sign due to its return to Capricorn due to its retrograde motion, it is already showing us what it will do over the next twenty years. The recent collapse in tech banks and firms is only the beginning, as Pluto rules radical endings and Aquarius rules technology. We can only expect more news around powerful firms and companies coming out this week and beyond.

Media Manipulation: Mars Square Neptune

Still, we should take everything we hear and see in the media with a grain of salt. In the 2023 astrological chart of the Spring Equinox, Mars in Gemini is still forming a square with Neptune in Pisces. Unfortunately, this is the most deceptive combination for mental manipulation, as Neptune and Gemini are connected with media and social media. While we’ve been experiencing this “fake news” trend for some time now, this aspect tells us that taking breaks from scrolling will be key to keeping our minds sane.

Destined Relationships: Venus Conjunct the North Node

Now, let’s get to the fun part… finally! The most positive aspect of the Spring Equinox chart is the meetup between Venus and the Lunar North Node. After a rough period for relationships, Venus is now in a sign that it rules, calming down the drama we experienced in the past few months.

In astrology, Venus is pleasure, love, and money—and the Lunar North Node functions as a cosmic magnet that attracts loads of energy. When the two meet, they unleash an incredibly positive vibe for everyone with a planet between 1 and 9 degrees of Taurus, as this sweet combination could spell an opportunity. Destined meetups of the soul are bound to happen between now and March 26.
