February 11: Be the Change

January 29, 2021

The moon is square Mars at 1:55 a.m.
In the pre-dawn hours, the Aquarius moon squares off with Mars in Taurus, rousing tensions. Fortunately, most of us will be asleep when this transit perfects, so we may be spared the worst of its angsty effects, but we could awaken in sour spirits.
Intuition and passion are at cross-purposes now, and we can be reckless in our attempts to see our desires made manifest. Because themes of stubbornness and inflexibility dominate our interactions, it is ironically our attitude, and not our initiative, that could be the prime culprit holding us back from achieving our goals.

Venus is conjunct Jupiter at 7:00 a.m.
Once day breaks, love-planet Venus aligns with Jupiter in Aquarius, making us generous and giving. Our compassion knows no bounds, and this attitude attracts many new acquaintances. Luck has a way of finding us and fortuitous social connections can be made that might help us seize opportunities more aligned with our creative or humanitarian interests.
We are additionally inclined to embrace our weirder, Aquarian edginess, seeing nothing scandalous about adopting a drastic hair style or tweaking our wardrobe in unusual ways. Although we are desirous of attention now, it is less from a place of insecurity and needing validation; by amplifying the parts of ourselves that we fear are unlovable, we are learning how to fall in love with being authentically witnessed.

The moon is conjunct the sun at 11:06 a.m., and moon void of course begins
Before noon, the Aquarius new moon asks us to consider who we are, where we are headed, and how we plan to get there through friendship, philanthropy, and activism. Set intentions for embracing your unorthodox side, the side of yourself that is usually shunned or hidden away for the sake of others’ comfort. If we want to be the guardians of our own future, we have to be unafraid of abdicating the “shelter” of norms. Detach from other people’s standards and stereotyping, and over the course of the month to come, seek new experiences, knowledge, and lifestyle changes. You might surprise yourself with the extent of your self-discovery.
Following this connection, the moon enters its void period for the next twelve hours, allowing us to digest the new moon energy and reflect on what “being the change we’d like to see in the world” might entail, shrugging off the stress of trying to perfect a perfect new moon ritual.

The moon enters Pisces at 11:23 p.m.
Before midnight, the moon enters the fantasy domain of Pisces. At this time, we are more acutely captivated by the allure of music, beauty, and mysticism, desirous of tuning out harsh realities of the daily grind to connect to the liminal and spiritual realms. This transit begins as many of us are preparing to sleep, so we can expect our dreams to be served up in technicolor, filled with nostalgic characters who remind us of bygone times.
