January 17: A Jupiter-Uranus Square

January 11, 2021

The moon is conjunct Neptune at 1:35 a.m.

After midnight, the moon aligns with Neptune in Pisces, stimulating the mystical and intuitive senses. This transit favors nocturnal activities such as astral projection and lucid dreaming. Our sleeping brain may overwhelm us with significant symbols, or serve to recall old memories lost to the passage of time. Characters we encounter in this liminal landscape can serve to assist us in recognizing the necessity of self-forgiveness and compassion, while cultivating a safe container for healing.

Once we awaken, we’ll take this inspired yet abstract attitude into the day with us, which means self-deception is a possibility. Our time will be better spent relaxing, or allowing for artistic or spiritual pursuits. We could even benefit from a mid-morning nap!

The moon is sextile Pluto at 12:55 p.m.

The Pisces moon forms a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn in the afternoon, releasing us from limiting behaviors or patterns. We can therapeutically face addictive or compulsory attitudes, seeing the fear-based roots of our disquieting conduct. In this awareness, we can surrender the victim mindset and regain a sense of personal power. At the same time, we might feel very intensely now and can benefit by taking time for ourselves in order to process our feelings in a healthy way.

Jupiter is square Uranus at 2:50 p.m.

In the afternoon, Jupiter in Aquarius forms a square to Uranus in Taurus, posing the question: “What is the price of freedom?” This transit produces an almost unbearable compulsion to modify some dimension of our life. A crisis of faith or a shift in beliefs could push us to make a major lifestyle change, or the sudden appearance of new people or surprise circumstances dramatically alters our understanding of reality.

These changes are necessary and quite possibly inevitable, but may come about with such velocity that they exacerbate stressful situations or serve to uncomfortably uproot our lives. Ultimately, we are pushed in directions that facilitate greater wealth, prosperity, and growth, but in the immediate, we may have to contend with economic insecurity through a lack of resources or funds. We may in fact put ourselves in this predicament by improperly using what we have, or making an unwise gamble or investment. If you take a risk, make sure there is some sort of contingency plan in place.

The moon is sextile the sun at 7:44 p.m., and moon void of course begins

Come nightfall, the moon forms a cooperative sextile with the sun, granting us balanced emotions and confidence in our abilities. Our contentment with life makes us generous and supportive of others, and people seek to partner with us because we listen as much as we speak. Because we understand that our personal voice is unique and irreplaceable, we are less competitive and want to help our friends experience success.

After this influence, the moon falls into a short void period, suggesting we enjoy the positive vibes and use this time for socializing rather than managing.

The moon enters Aries at 11:07 p.m., and moon void of course ends

The moon shifts into spirited Aries a few hours later, ending its void period. For the next two days, our emotional equilibrium hinges on our facility of self-expression. Our emotions are rather impulsive at this time and our energy is best directed into physical tasks or solo projects where we control the conditions and timelines. We are more easily provoked into arguments now, seeing disputes as a means of proving one’s strength and passion. This is a good moon for challenging unfair treatment, or demonstrating courage by coming to others’ aid.
