January 27: Boundaries and Self-Examination
The moon is opposite Venus at 7:37 a.m.
The moon is opposite Pluto at 9:55 a.m., and the moon void of course begins
In the morning, the moon opposes Venus, making it difficult to express our feelings. We are highly sensitive under the Cancer moon, and any relational difficulties are magnified, causing us to react to even small criticisms as if they were serious slights. Venus in Capricorn, certainly not the fuzziest of Venus placements, enjoys drawing boundaries and can feel quite cold in its execution, despite its morally upright intentions.
At this time, someone may create a boundary that seems to hinder our ability to give or receive love. Or, we may be this person, needing to draw a line to protect ourselves from another’s exacting standards. Either way, we feel restricted or limited, which causes us to draw back into our shells.
Following this, the moon opposes Pluto, generating extreme emotions and stimulating irrational fears. Common thoughts include “Will I ever find the support and love I need? Maybe I am broken and unlovable.” With our minds clouded by anxiety, the response is to seek control, whether that is through aggression, self-imposed isolation, obsessive behavior, or ghosting, which only further exacerbates paranoia.
We might try examining why we go to such extreme places when we feel vulnerable, and where, psychologically, the roots of the problem lie. This influence can be used for therapy, but only if we are open to hearing others’ assessment of our situation and receiving assistance or tough love, which we may not be willing or prepared to do.
Ceres is opposite Vesta retrograde at 6:17 p.m.
In the evening, asteroid Ceres in Pisces opposes Vesta retrograde in Virgo, creating conflict between how we wish to support others and how we honor our internal rhythms and inspiration. The tendency here is to deny our needs to nurture another’s, yet self-sacrifice ultimately does a disservice to those we are claiming to aid, because by disavowing our own nature, we become unable to provide the help required. We should advocate for the time and space necessary to pursue our own passions, otherwise, we are essentially feeding others from an empty cup, barren of the magic we gain from apprenticing ourselves to our inner muse.
The moon enters Leo at 6:54 p.m., and moon void of course ends
Around the same time, the moon enters Leo, ending its void of course. This shift provides another clear indicator that at this time, our obligation is to shine our own light, expressing ourselves with courage, and drawing those to our side who love us for who we are, not for what we can provide. Over the next two days, acts of creation, play, socializing, and romance are favored.
