January 3: Healing and Forgiveness
The moon is inconjunct Chiron at 2:14 a.m.
In the early morning, the Virgo moon creates a puzzling inconjunct to Wounded Healer asteroid Chiron in Aries, obstructing our path to intuitive self-healing. Because this aspect perfects in the middle of the night, it won’t cause us the same grief as it would in the waking hours, yet our dream narratives may center around fears of not being competent or capable, spotlighting scenarios where we have been denied or dealt a poor hand. While our instincts suggest that a solution to our anxieties must be staring us in the face, every attempt to mitigate them seems to miss the mark, creating even further stress and causing feelings of woundedness to be amplified.
The moon is trine Uranus retrograde at 5:12 a.m.
Around dawn, the moon trines Uranus in Taurus, the very transit we need to unblock ourselves mentally and emotionally. The moon is currently passing through the sign of Mercury’s rulership, and with Uranus functioning as the higher octave of Mercury, we seem to be gifted with the answers to life’s most pressing riddles, as if handed a psychic instruction manual.
This influence serves to remind us of the importance of having patience, that we might create space to receive guidance in the form of practical, common sense downloads. Stepping back from problems and assessing the tools available to us not only hones us in on the proper tool to use, but also may transform that tool into a swiss army knife, capable of cutting us free of the complications preventing us from self-actualizing.
Juno is trine Chiron at 8:28 a.m.
In the morning, Juno in Sagittarius forms a trine to Chiron in Aries, continuing the days’ theme of healing. We now see that some of our hang-ups around our competence and individuality stem from devoting ourselves energetically to the wrong things. While we may feel an initial sting around this realization, the upside is that if we determine what the wrong things are, we are equally capable of recognizing the right ones (those that fill us with a sense of wonder, rather than apprehension).
At this time, we are especially encouraged to forgive ourselves for “failed” relationships—after all, we are not failures, we have simply done the very human thing of exacerbating our pain by prolonging what was not meant to be. Subsequently, we enable ourselves to align with better partnerships without feeling like we are damaged or broken; aware our commitment should lie with those whose expectations better resemble our own.
The moon is trine the sun at 5:44 p.m.
In the late afternoon, the moon trines the Capricorn sun, nicely stabilizing the day’s energies. Under this influence, we are provided with confidence and the knowledge that we are capable of handling whatever life throws at us. The Virgo moon’s sense of discrimination pairs with the sun’s ability to delegate, so we are productive without being overbearing, easily acclimating to others’ rhythms.
This transit makes us easy-going, and we will especially enjoy the company of those we can be sarcastic with. Sarcasm won’t be used as a coping mechanism to gloss over real feelings, it’s just that we have an easier time managing our sensitivities now, and healthy self-esteem has the strange side effect of providing us the freedom to take ourselves less seriously.
