Sun in Pisces: Welcome to the Spirit World

February 19, 2018

LOTUS

The sun entered the final sign of the zodiac cycle yesterday, and so we have begun wrapping up the zodiac year. For the next month, the sun will be in Pisces, the home of the dream world and the spirit world.

What are your dreams trying to tell you?

Pisces is the sign of dissolving, which enables us to become more flexible and malleable, opening us up to things we’ve only dreamed of. Pisces is intuitive, sensitive, and spiritually connected.

The lotus flower seems perfect for this time, as it has some of the deepest metaphysical meanings of all the flowers.

It was revered in ancient Egypt, as well as in Buddhist tradition and Hinduism.

The seven chakras are often shown as lotus flowers. It has deep roots as a spiritual metaphor for awakening and enlightenment, in part because of how it grows. The roots grow in the mud at the bottom of a body of water, and the stem makes its way up to bloom a vibrant flower on the surface of the water.

The entire lotus plant has been used for centuries in both traditional Chinese medicine and in Ayurvedic medicine. It is full of vitamins and minerals. All parts of the plant can be eaten – the flower, the leaves, and the root.

It can lower high blood sugar. It is anti-inflammatory. It lowers stress levels due to its magnesium content, and it helps blood circulation, thanks to its iron content.

A tea can be made from either the flower or the leaf, while the root can be fermented or boiled and eaten.
The leaf can be used in dishes like a wrap. The lotus flower essence can help to strengthen spiritual connection. It can open the crown chakra to allow in enlightening energy, leading to calmness and tranquillity.

The unique characteristics of the lotus flower work great for the Pisces season. Because the connection between the root and the flower stays strong, even over the distance from the muddy bottom to the water’s surface, the lotus can help us to stay grounded.

The lotus can tether our open spiritual connection to the physical world while elevating and increasing our relationship to both.

Grounding Elements Pro-Tip: Brew a cup of this decaf green tea with lotus flowers before going to bed and tune into your dreams.
