Why the Aries Full Moon Wants You to Chill the Hell Out in September

September 24, 2018

On September 24, at 7:52pm, PST, the full moon will be in Aries. Known as the Harvest Moon, Barley Moon, Full Corn Moon, and the Fruit Moon, this September 2018 full moon in Aries comes just a couple days after the fall equinox.

As the first sign in the zodiac, Aries is all about initiative. It’s interested in moving forward, not looking back—which, energetically, makes it a much better fit for a new moon than a full moon. So when the full moon lands in this cardinal fire sign, we might just get a little hot and bothered!

That’s because full moons ask us to pause and reflect—not the sort of thing Aries typically enjoys. And just as the sun’s light makes the moon visible at this time, our own dark side also tends to show up in more obvious ways. For Aries, that can mean anger, aggression, and reckless or “hotheaded” behavior.

What Does the Full Moon in Aries Mean?

Under this moon’s influence, we may react to situations in a knee-jerk, emotional way without having all the facts. It’s easy to say or do things in the heat of the moment that we don’t really mean—and throw our lives out of balance, just like that.

Fortunately, we have the sun in the opposite sign of Libra to keep us in check. This diplomatic sign teaches us to consider all sides of the situation and weigh all the options, before we act or speak. After all, we’re not the only ones affected by our behavior, so we owe it to those we care about to consider their feelings, too.

Just think of a time in the recent past when you rushed into something “head first” without thinking how others might be affected. How’s that working out for you now? This full moon can bring us face-to-face with the real consequences of our impulsive decisions.

But on the flip side, maybe there’s a situation where you’ve waited too long to take action. (Libra is notorious for its difficulty making hard-and-fast decisions.) The September 2018 full moon in Aries can bring it to a head and force you to make your move—now or never!

Horoscopes for the September 2018 Full Moon in Aries

Aries

It’s not like you to ask for permission, Aries—you’d rather act now and ask for forgiveness later. And more often than not, that’s a risk that pays off for you. Still, it’s not the best approach for every situation. When relationships hang in the balance, as they do at this full moon, disregarding other people’s feelings is a risk you can’t afford to take.

Taurus

You’re at the top of everyone’s “most reliable” list, Taurus. But along with all the positive qualities that people rely on you for, comes a stubborn streak that’s equally dependable—it comes out when you’re asked to do something you don’t want to do. You may not be feeling especially cooperative at this full moon, but at least try to be a team player.

Gemini

The possibilities are endless, Gemini… but someone’s got to try them all, so it might as well be you! After all, who else can jump from one thing to another with such effortless charm and grace?  Don’t be afraid to explore your options at this super-social full moon. Just be mindful of honoring plans—no matter how interesting the excuse, no one likes to get stood up.

Cancer

Work/life balance is a challenge for all of us, Cancer, but for you the struggle is real. And with so many demands on you at work right now, it’s almost impossible not to bring some of that stress home. But is that really fair to the people who have to live with you?  This full moon challenges you to keep your two worlds from colliding.

Leo

There are so many reasons for you to stick around right now, Leo, but most of them have more to do with other people’s desires than with your own. If only there was some way to satisfy your wanderlust without skipping out on them… oh wait, there probably is! At this full moon, adventure is just around the corner—you just have to go looking for it.

Virgo

Life is a delicate balance, Virgo, so why disrupt the equilibrium by bringing someone new into it? Actually, we can think of plenty of reasons: excitement, vitality, and the need to evolve all come to mind. Yes, opening up to another person always involves some element of risk. But as this full moon suggests, closing yourself off can be an even riskier move.

Libra

Someone’s ready to take it to the next level, Libra. But they may be getting tired of waiting for you to make up your mind. Do you really need more time to decide, or are you just stalling? Chances are, you already know what you want out of this relationship—you’re just afraid to own it. Don’t be surprised if this full moon serves you an ultimatum.

Scorpio

Who’s afraid of the dark? Not you, Scorpio—but that doesn’t mean you should live like a vampire. Seriously, just because you can feed off of other people’s energy, doesn’t mean that you should. (And you’ve got plenty to burn as it is!) This full moon brings shady dealings to light, so consider yourself on notice… and try using your powers for good, not evil.

Sagittarius

“Wise men say only fools rush in…” But you can’t help it, Sagittarius—you’re just falling in love with life all over again. And luckily for you, the feeling is mutual! This full moon makes you want to get out there and party like there’s no tomorrow. Just remember, there most likely will be a tomorrow, so a little moderation might be a good idea.

Capricorn

There’s very little that can faze you, Capricorn—except a messy display of emotion. But with so many feelings erupting seemingly out of nowhere, that’s more likely to come from you right now than anyone else in your life. At this full moon, it’s important to find a healthy outlet so the anger and rage can burn themselves out… without burning any bridges.

Aquarius

“Rebel without a cause…” If that’s not you, Aquarius, we don’t know what is. And we feel you—it must be so frustrating, waiting for everyone else to catch up to your way of thinking. But ranting and raving about everything that’s wrong with the world is unlikely to win anyone over to your side. Instead, at this full moon, try introducing some radical new alternatives.

Pisces

Money is no object, Pisces… at least, you sure seem to think so.  But financial independence means so much more than making impulse purchases. It’s about paying your debts, saving for the future, living your best life, and having plenty to share. You’ll get there one day… but this full moon suggests that first, you may need to rethink those “devil-may-care” spending habits.
