This Full Moon in Aries Is About Exploring the Deepest Wound
On October 1, 2020 (2:05 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time), the full moon will be at 9°08’ of Aries.
Emotions run higher—and hotter—with the full moon in this cardinal fire sign. We’re quicker to react, to lose our patience and sometimes even our tempers. But getting heated isn’t always a bad thing. In unfair or unjust situations, it’s a perfectly appropriate response.
Anger and frustration often show us where we need to take action. Where the status quo has become unacceptable to us, and it’s time to finally do something about it. Righteous anger can energize and inspire courageous, creative acts. But this doesn’t just happen by accident—we must make a conscious choice of how to use our Aries energy.
What Does the October Full Moon in Aries Mean?
That’s especially true with this full moon conjunct retrograde Chiron in Aries. Right now, our old wounds and pain can easily be triggered by the actions, words, or even presence of others. And while it’s important to acknowledge these “negative” emotions, we must try to express them in ways that promote healing instead of harm. Otherwise, we risk repeating the same cycles of suffering.
Fortunately, the sun in Libra is a calming influence in our more hotheaded moments. We’re reminded that our actions don’t just affect us—they impact everyone around us as well. As such, it’s in our own best interest to consider the interests of others.
Of course, there are some situations where compromise is not an option. And with the Libra sun quincunx retrograde Uranus in Taurus, we may surprise each other (and ourselves) with what our “dealbreakers” turn out to be. As nice as it is when everyone’s getting along, sometimes being right is more important than being nice. Make sure, though, that you’re really standing on principle—not just stubbornness.
After all, with lunation ruler Mars currently retrograde in Aries, many of us are frustrated enough with how slowly things are moving. And Mars’ square with Saturn (September 29), still in effect at this full moon, has put additional obstacles in our path. But these aren’t there just to keep us down. There may be a very good reason why we can’t—or shouldn’t—get our way right now.
Saturn, who just stationed direct in Capricorn on September 28, reminds us that good things take time. The instant gratification that Mars prefers isn’t always good for us, and what we feel like doing in the heat of the moment can have long-term consequences. Some rules and regulations really are in place for our own good.
Still, when the status quo has become unworkable, change is inevitable. And as Pluto also goes direct in Capricorn on October 4, it’s just a matter of time before this comes to light. The transformation process may not be unfolding as quickly as we’d like, but we can trust that it’s already underway.

Horoscopes for the October Full Moon in Aries
Aries
Who’s looking out for you, Aries? While you understand that relationships are about give-and-take, at this full moon you’re getting tired of putting your own desires and needs on the back burner. Consider whether, if the roles were reversed, the other person would be doing the same for you.
Taurus
All things in moderation, Taurus? You’ve been doing your best to live a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle. But trying too hard can end up costing you peace of mind. If you’ve been denying yourself too much lately, this full moon will make unsatisfied cravings impossible to ignore.
Gemini
Go along to get along? Not this time, Gemini! While you’re usually content to let your friends set the agenda, at this full moon you’ve got plans of your own. You may feel some trepidation about breaking away from the pack, but don’t let this stop you from having fun.
Cancer
Work/life balance is a challenge for all of us, Cancer. But at this full moon, it’s an especially hot-button issue for you. If you’re experiencing burnout or a loss of passion for your profession, it may be a sign that it’s time to slow down or scale things back.
Leo
Agree to disagree? Leo, this is often the smartest choice. Most differences of opinion just aren’t important enough to risk a relationship over. But at this full moon, the stakes feel much higher—and you feel a greater sense of urgency to stand up for what you believe in.
Virgo
Hey, Virgo… take a walk on the wild side! Living on the edge isn’t typically your style, but at this full moon you’re ready to take some chances. It feels risky to put yourself out there, but it might be even riskier not to. Shed your inhibitions and just do it!
Libra
Relationships come and go, Libra. But the one constant connection in life is the one you have with yourself. Still, at this full moon, you can’t help craving the companionship of others. Interactions with friends, lovers, and other special someones remind you who you really are.
Scorpio
It’s your move, Scorpio! You’ve been watching from the sidelines, weighing your options, and considering your situation from every possible perspective. But ready or not, at this full moon, it’s time to take decisive action. Otherwise, someone else may go ahead and make your mind up for you.
Sagittarius
You can’t please everyone, Sag—so you might as well please yourself. Still, if you’re being honest, you can’t help caring (at least a little) how others see you. Have fun doing your thing at this full moon, but don’t take it personally if your friends aren’t feeling it.
Capricorn
Even in the most heated situations, Capricorn, you’re one cool customer. But this full moon is triggering some hot-button emotional issues for you, making it impossible to “keep calm and carry on.” Instead of bottling up your anger, give yourself some safe, healthy, and responsible ways to blow off steam.
Aquarius
Don’t take the bait, Aquarius! These days, there’s no shortage of things to feel outraged about. But at this full moon, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to react to all of them. If someone’s trying to push your buttons, refusing to get angry may be your best revenge.
Pisces
Name it and claim it, Pisces! At this full moon, you know exactly what you want. But the fear of being “selfish” might make you shy about expressing your desires. Remember, though, that happiness is not a zero-sum game—there’s plenty of good stuff to go around.
