Spring Equinox: How to Harness the Energies

The wheel of life always turns, and as we spin through the heavens, we dance along the seasonal tapestry every year. Recent months in 2026 were filled with wild winter weather in the Northern Hemisphere, but finally, the turning point has arrived. The Spring Equinox approaches, promising longer days, rebirth, and a cosmic reset.

When is the Spring Equinox in 2026?

This year, the Spring Equinox arrives on March 20, 2026, at 7:46 AM (Pacific) and 10:46 AM (Eastern). We can officially welcome in the new season! The Spring Equinox is also International Astrology Day, as we begin a new astrological year. With the sun now blazing a trail into Aries—the first zodiac sign—we are ready to embrace Cardinal Fire energy and pioneer forth. From an astrological sense, we are eager to embrace all of the qualities of the ram—passion, courage, and desire. From an astronomical perspective, at this point in time, the sun crosses the celestial equator and moves north. In Latin, equinox means “equal night”—as day and night will be the same length in time. From this day forth until the Summer Solstice, the days will grow longer as the nights grow shorter. In this sense, it is as if we are experiencing an awakening, a rebirth, and a renewal.

What should we know about the energy of the 2026 Spring Equinox?

With Aries Season upon us, we are ready to conquer the paths before us and embrace our individual destinies. Ruled by Mars, the planet of drive, Aries as a zodiac sign embodies the energy of the mighty leader who races into battle and unites the army behind them. 

Yet, we have some very unique energies taking place now—some that we have not felt for hundreds of years. Saturn, the planet of karma and life lessons, is now residing in the zodiac sign of Aries and will remain here until 2028. While the sun will not unite in a conjunction with Saturn right on the Spring Equinox, it will occur on March 25, right in the very early degrees (4 degrees Aries). This brings a sense of gravity to this period in time and a need to look for perseverance and toward the long-term. At this time, we may find that we are more sensitive, intuitive, compassionate, and imaginative—while other people could find themselves confused and lost in illusions and delusions with no way out of the mist. 

To add another layer of significance to this period in time is that Mercury, planet of the mind—which has been retrograde since February 26, 2026—stations direct exactly on the Spring Equinox. This reveals that we will have a more disorienting time than usual navigating truth or fiction as we launch into the fresh season. 

Despite this whirlwind of energies, the best thing to do at this time is to tap into the fire within to plan where we seek to go—not only in the season ahead—but also the entire year. Even though Aries energy charges first and thinks later, the universe is currently encouraging us to be more thoughtful, imaginative, compassionate, and realistic leaders in the times to come—and sometimes taking a step back to plan and be strategic can lead us more quickly to our destinations in the long run.

This is—and will be—a time of rebirth, as the Spring Equinox is every year. Yet, by harnessing the current celestial energies, all people can find ways to understand not only our own individual, independent, or ego-driven needs, but also how we can build a better world not only for ourselves, but for others, as well.
