Navigating Eclipses in Pisces and Virgo: What They Mean for You
As above, so below, as written in the Emerald Tablet. It’s no secret that we’re living in some intense times, with so much happening daily, leaving many of us feeling out of control. But if we look at the history of humanity, this is nothing new. These modern times provide more visible exposure to worldly events, which appears to be written in the stars. We are in a time of rapid innovation and restructuring as I mentioned in Pluto in Aquarius: The Dawn of a New Era. And if astrology is reflective of the natural cycles of the cosmos, we can choose to surrender to this cycle and lean into the flow of the wave, versus moving against it. One of the most important cycles to follow in astrology is the eclipse cycle.
Eclipses and the North and South Node
Eclipses involve Earth, the luminaries (sun and moon), and the lunar nodes. The lunar nodes, also known as the north and south nodes, are the points where the moon’s orbit crosses with the sun’s apparent path (the ecliptic). When there is a new or full moon within 18 to 18.5 degrees of the north and south node, we have an eclipse. The nodes in astrology are destiny points, and in your natal chart, they give insight into your spiritual evolution. The north node is directly opposite the south node so the north node will always be in the zodiac sign opposite the south node and vice versa. The south node represents a past energy, what you came into this world knowing and have already mastered, and the north node represents where you need to go, and what you need to learn. Because these two points are connected to both the sun and moon, the metaphorical journey we take in life from the south node to the north node does not always feel easy. The nodes want to stretch us and require an energy of mastery, and a willingness to learn and grow. Learning more about the zodiac signs and houses your natal north and south nodes are in is incredibly useful, but so is keeping track of where the nodes are in the cosmos at the moment.
Eclipse Cycles
Astrologically, when an eclipse happens, it’s energetically much more powerful than a regular new and full moon. We often start to feel the energy of an eclipse weeks prior to it occurring, and its effects up to six months after. Eclipses are notoriously known for being connected to big life events that change the course or direction of our lives. Not every eclipse will personally impact you, which is why it’s important to follow the eclipse cycles and the zodiac signs they are in. The lunar nodes transit retrograde, clockwise, or in the opposite direction of the planets, so they move backwards through the zodiac signs, and their 360 nodal cycle is approximately 18.6 years. So approximately every 9 and 18 years you will experience eclipses in the same area in your natal chart, connected to a particular area of your life.
The Nodes’ Journey Through Pisces and Virgo
The north node is currently in Aries and the south node in Libra, but come January 11, 2025, the north node will move into Pisces and south node into its opposite sign, Virgo, where they will stay until July 26, 2026. You may already be feeling this shift energetically, with this year’s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces that occurred on September 17. Jupiter and Neptune ruled Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, which puts an extra emphasis on a closing or ending of some sort. This is a time for release, faith, compassion and creativity. We also currently have Saturn and Neptune in Pisces, with Neptune wrapping up its trek through the sign that it rules in modern astrology. Pisces is a mutable, water sign so needless to say, this is a time to go with the flow, which may feel uncomfortable if you always like to be in control, or have a hard time with change. Fixed signs, (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) I’m mostly talking to you!
I asked Intuitive Astrologer Stevie Goldstein about the general themes of the Pisces/Virgo eclipse cycle: “ I’ve been calling this new series of eclipses in Pisces and Virgo the cycle of magical acceptance. When in doubt ask yourself, “What would a Pisces do?” To do as a Pisces would mean trusting the process and releasing control. Pisces energy is rooted in deep spiritual connection and a natural proclivity to the arts. During this time you’ll feel more generous, open to taking more risks, and in touch with your intuition—even if it doesn’t line up with the typical Virgo paperwork! Virgo prefers to follow directions and a linear path, while Pisces is aware that the path can be winding, steps can be skipped, and gifts from others shouldn’t be ignored. This Pisces/Virgo eclipse cycle is going to shine a light on where we need to take bigger swings and express ourselves more fully, all while learning how to release self-judgment. The potential for healing is huge.

And which signs will be most affected by the Pisces/Virgo nodal shift/eclipses?
Goldstein says: “All the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will feel these eclipses the strongest. Folks with Virgo/Pisces placements will experience conjunctions and oppositions with the nodes, which will be accelerating the themes of their Virgo/Pisces planets. Pisces will feel tapped into their psychic abilities and find themselves getting downloads from the universe that feel like they came out of nowhere!
Virgos on the other hand will be asked to loosen their grip. The best course of action for a Virgo this eclipse season is if it feels like you’re forcing it, you probably are so let it free.
Gemini and Sagittarius are getting Squared by the nodes, and we will see people with prominent Gemini/Sagittarius placements being pushed to evolve. This push may feel uncomfortable but ultimately it is a necessary check-in with the Gemini/Sagittarius community to make sure they are not working against themselves.
All the mutables will be asked to learn from each other during this eclipse cycle.”
And with that being said, we can all learn from each other during this time. Flow is your best friend right now, so remember to go with it, and you’ll end up exactly where you need to be.
