Your North Node, Destiny, and Aspects: Outer Planets

June 12, 2019

Many of us are drawn to explore our birth charts to access a deeper understanding and acceptance of who we really are—the characteristics and flaws that make us uniquely human and uniquely us. By studying our birth chart, we are able to recognize reoccurring patterns in our life, from the way we dress to the way we nurture ourselves, how we act in relationships, and even our destiny in this lifetime.

The ways in which each of our planets interacts and forms aspects with one another in our birth chart reveal our more complex and specific characteristics, traumas, and strengths. The north node, in particular, is one of the most important parts of our birth chart, as it shows us what we are working toward—our karmic destiny during this iteration of life.

We’ve already gone over what it means when someone’s personal planet (sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) aspects their north node. Here, we’ll look at what it means when one of the outer planets, which tend to define our unconscious side, forms an aspect with your north node in a conjunction, opposition, square, trine, or sextile.

What’s your ultimate destiny in this lifetime?

Jupiter

Conjunction

For the most part, when the planet of luck meets our north node, we can expect a lucky life. Very similar to the sun-north node conjunction, this person may feel that they are frequently in the right place at the right time, running into the right people or connections. It can indicate someone who has already paid their karmic debts in a past life and is now here to enjoy. With Jupiter there is always optimism, but we want to look out for overindulgence. This is an overall positive placement that encourages growth through knowledge and spirituality.

Soft Aspects

The softer aspects will reveal a person who loves to travel and who will never stop learning. Consuming information and knowledge is a full-time job. Born with an optimistic outlook, this attitude will prove to deliver many opportunities. There is a teacher aspect with Jupiter, and with the trine and sextile it could indicate someone who would make an excellent mentor or advisor.

Hard Aspects

The opposition and square will ask you to center yourself. Reality checks are important because there is a tendency to get lost in boundless optimism. The opposition in particular suggests that you are already entering this life with a spiritual or intellectual purpose that you feel confident about.
