November 30: Gemini Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

Full moon lunar eclipse in Gemini at 1:30 a.m.

In the middle of the night, the full moon lunar eclipse in Gemini releases us from narrow definitions of truth and belief. In so many ways, what we understand as true is contingent upon the time period in which we exist, pre-determined by historical, academic, scientific, economic, and religious corroboration.

However, in a moment where infallible institutions are seemingly crumbling, a mass crisis of confidence is changing how we communicate with each other. It is changing how we get our news, check facts, engage with technology and social media, and even how we choose our friends. Do we seek out discourse with those who think differently than us, or are we caught in a feedback loop of our own biases? It is already necessary to question how we participate in creating culture, but the lunar eclipse encourages us to additionally look at who or what benefits from our beliefs.

If we are self-interested, our beliefs should prop up our own sovereignty. Allegiance to dogma (South Node in Sagittarius) is a safety mechanism whereby we trade sovereignty for security. But this trade denies us the ability to change our minds, to ask questions, or refine our societal engagement (North Node in Gemini). The ruler of this eclipse, Mercury, is currently passing through Scorpio, compelling us to be penetrative, to probe deeper, to look for meaning beneath slogans, mantras, and dog whistles and to pay attention to discoveries without trying to immediately fit them into a simplistic narrative.

Mercury is sextile Pallas at 2:45 a.m.

Mercury is sextile Saturn at 11:01 a.m.

Following this, Mercury in Scorpio creates a harmonious sextile with Pallas in Capricorn, facilitating strategic communication with others. In Capricorn, wise Pallas’ approach to strategy swings conservative, while Mercury in Scorpio’s instinct is to interrogate the power dynamics inherent in communication. We’re encouraged to question the value of our current modes of thinking, speaking, and invoking. And should ask ourselves: When we are collaborating with others, what are our intentions? What kinds of connections are we trying to forge? What are we trying to alchemize?

Later in the morning, Mercury forms a sextile with Saturn in Capricorn, essentially going over this territory from a different angle. But instead of asking how to use our wisdom and strategy to relate to other individuals, we’re asked how this dynamic can be expanded to include our relationships to structures, systems, and society as a whole? How can we engage with the nature of what we build with the same curiosity?

The moon is square Neptune at 8:22 p.m., and moon void of course begins

In the evening, the Gemini moon forms a tense square with Neptune in Pisces, creating frustration and confusion. There is a chance under this influence that we will be deceived, perhaps we will even willfully deceive ourselves. With so much data and information flying around, it’s hard to focus on one thing at a time. Due to the likelihood of moodiness and overwhelm, put off work which requires patience and attention to detail, and allow yourself the permission to feel unmoored without self-reproach.
