Total Solar Eclipse in Leo: A Brand-New Chapter Is Opening
Welcome to the second eclipse season of 2026! And this isn’t just any eclipse…we are stepping into a whole new chapter. On August 12th, we have a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo at 10:36 a.m. PT (1:36 p.m. ET). And before we get into the meaning of it all, let’s talk about the sky itself, because this one is genuinely special. Here’s what your sign needs to know.
Where the Total Solar Eclipse in Leo Is Visible
This is one of those eclipses that has people booking flights, and for good reason. This is the first total solar eclipse visible over mainland Europe since 1999. You can check out the link here from NASA to learn more about the path of totality (where the Moon completely covers the Sun).
Because this eclipse happens when the Moon is close to Earth, the Moon appears a little bigger than usual, which makes totality last a beautiful two-plus minutes in some spots.
And if you don’t live on the path of totality, you should know eclipse energy doesn’t require a clear view of the sky. It’s touching all of us.
The Nodes Just Moved Into Aquarius and Leo
On July 26th, the North Node moved into Aquarius and the South Node moved into Leo. This is a big deal; the nodes only change signs about every 18 months, and they’ll now travel this Aquarius and Leo axis all the way through March 2028.
So what are the nodes? The nodes of the Moon aren’t planets. They’re two points, always sitting exactly opposite each other, that mark where the Moon’s path crosses the Sun’s. But astrologically they carry so much weight because they are said to point to the direction of our soul’s growth.
The North Node is the node of destiny. It’s the direction you’re being pulled toward. The South Node is the point we’re being invited to release, to grow beyond.
Also worth noting: Along with the Sun and the South Node, Jupiter is currently in Leo too, having moved there on June 29th, so all of this Leo energy is being amplified and magnified right now.
The Story So Far: February’s Solar Eclipse in Aquarius
If this Aquarius eclipse energy feels vaguely familiar, that’s because you already got a preview. Back in February, during Aquarius season, we had a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, and it fell on the Lunar New Year. That was the very first whisper of this new chapter. A glimpse of the story that was beginning to unfold.
Now, with the nodes officially settled onto this axis and this eclipse arriving in Leo, that chapter continues. What started as a seed in February is now taking its next step.
So if you’ve felt a theme quietly building in your life since the Lunar New Year, this is the same story, turning its page.
We’ve Been Here Before: The Beauty of Astrology Cycles
Here’s one of the things I love about astrology: it’s all about cycles. Nothing happens just once. The sky keeps moving in rhythms and patterns, circling back to the same themes so we can meet them again, hopefully, with a little more clarity each time.
The nodes are a perfect example. They take roughly 18 to 19 years to travel all the way around the zodiac, spending about 18 months in each sign.
The last time the nodes were in this exact placement, with the North Node in Aquarius and the South Node in Leo, was from late 2007 through August 2009. We also got a more recent echo of this energy when the axis flipped, with the North Node in Leo and the South Node in Aquarius, from 2017 through late 2018. Since that one is closer to now, it may feel more familiar.
So here’s a little cosmic homework: think back to what was happening in your life during those windows. Where were you growing? What were you releasing? What began, what ended, what needed to shift?
See if you can find a thread connecting then to now. Because whatever is stirring for you today is likely building on a story that started turning years ago. That is the magic of the cycles. Same theme, brand new chapter in your story.
Is a Solar Eclipse Also a New Moon?
Yes! A solar eclipse is a New Moon; it’s the very first moon of the lunar cycle, the seed-planting point, the fresh start. It’s just a New Moon turned all the way up, supercharged by the nodes.
Now, here’s something you’ll hear debated in the astrology world: should you manifest on an eclipse? Some astrologers say no, that eclipse energy is too unpredictable and that you should sit back rather than plant seeds.
I’ll be honest with you: I’m not an astrologer who believes that. I think you can manifest whenever you intuitively feel inspired to do so.
So if you want to manifest with this eclipse energy, do it! If you’d rather rest, observe, and let it move through you, that works too! There’s no “wrong” way to work with it: You get to decide what feels right to you.
Remember, this is the beginning of an 18-month journey; you don’t have to figure it all out in one day. Eclipses tend to set things in motion and can reveal more over the weeks and months that follow.
So be gentle with yourself, stay curious, and trust that whatever is stirring is stirring for you. A brand-new chapter is opening. All you have to do is turn the page.
