Sun & Mercury into Aquarius, Lunar Eclipse
Astrologically speaking, this is quite a week! There's a whole plethora of
goings-on in the sky above, including the movement of both Mercury and the Sun into Aquarius, on the 18th
and 20th respectively, and a full Moon lunar eclipse on the
20th. Prepare yourself for originality and excitement!
Mercury, the bipolar planet of Communication, threw us all for a loop a
couple of months ago when it went retrograde (backward) and caused some
communication confusion, which happens a few times each year. Thankfully,
it's settled down since then and this Tuesday enters the companionable Sign
of Aquarius. If there was ever a time to make up useful words and find new
ways of communicating, this is it. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had his Mercury
in Aquarius, and he communicated his unorthodox and ingenious musical
innovations to a worldwide audience. Mercury in Aquarius means a time of
invention and quick wit. You and those around you may have a heightened
awareness about what is going on in the world. Mathematicians and
scientists may be able to grasp the most abstract equations and formulas,
and everyone will quite possibly be feeling as if they have the proverbial
light bulb going on over their head. Take advantage of this time to think
creatively. You never know what you're going to come up with next. (To find

For those Air Signs out
there, this is an auspicious time. Not only is Mercury in Aquarius, but the
golden Sun itself is moving into this Sign of the Water Bearer. We already
know that speech will be original, but prepare for absolutely everything to
go cutting-edge for the next month. Aquarius is very fond of gadgets, so
keep an eye out for stores stocking all the latest in technological
knick-knacks. Even if you're not one to be taken in by trends, don't be
surprised if you suddenly have a yen for a new MP3 player, or a cell phone
that lets you surf the Internet. Don't think that this placement is all
about the new and fascinating, though. Part of the reason that Aquarius
likes these things is that it genuinely wants to change the world. Expect
to feel the call of the latest protest or grassroots campaign this month.
You may find yourself desiring to march through the streets in protest of
human inequality, or picking up trash along the highway for a cleaner
Earth. The flip side of this is that you may have problems seeing eye to
eye with others as you're all trying to explain your new and profound
insights.
On the evening of January 20, the same day that the Sun moves into
Aquarius, the world will get the spectacular view of a Full Moon Lunar
Eclipse. The Moon will be in Leo on that day, which is Aquarius' opposite
Sign. A Full Moon adds a certain amount of intensity to the world, and an
eclipse just intensifies that intensity. More attention is paid to eclipses
in a certain type of Astrology called Mundane Astrology. Mundane Astrology
deals in world events, maps and the charts of cities and countries. An
eclipse, then, may signify a focus on current affairs and world news. Those
who are born during an eclipse can be very intense as well. Anyone born
during this eclipse, with an Aquarius Sun and Leo Moon, will also be
somewhat fixed in their opinions.
All told, this is going to be a week full of positive change and planetary
influences. Enjoy everything the sky has to offer. Until next week...
