The Astrology of the 2026 Midterms: What the Charts of the U.S. and Both Parties Reveal
Power is something often tied to political landscapes. In a world that is ever-changing, we have seen many shifts between polarities as people, culture, and technology evolve. Not only does generational evolution always occur, but the world that we live in does as well. In this article, I’ll dive into some of the key factors that are affecting the astrology—and people—of the United States. As an important note upfront, this article does not support one party over the other. We are looking at the information present in the natal charts to aid in forecasting where events may end up in the long term. Dive in with me!
The Astrological Weather of the Autumn in 2026
Before I soar into three key moving factors—the natal charts of the United States of America, as well as the Democratic Party and Republican Party—there are several things to consider on a global scale.
First and foremost, in the autumn of 2026, several mighty retrogrades are occurring that not only shift the paradigm, but also affect people globally on a very profound level.
Venus, our planet of pleasure and beauty, retrogrades from October 3, 2026, until November 13, 2026. When Venus retrogrades, we experience karmic lessons that relate to many themes: how we approach relationships, what we value, what we find worth within, anything to do with women or “the feminine,” as well as beauty.
Mercury, our planet of communication and the mind, retrogrades from October 24, 2026, until November 13, 2026. When Mercury retrogrades, our minds turn to the past and become confused around communication and how we connect with others.
With both of them retrograde at the exact same time, we are deeply focused on the past, whether that be hoping for days gone by, seeking to resurrect them, or being uncertain about the path we have taken and seeking to redirect it. Retrogrades are not “bad,” but they do demand that we be aware of what is triggering us.
This particular period echoes the energy of the autumn of 2018, so situations in our own lives—as well as politically and on a global scale—may once again be up for review. Venus went retrograde in Scorpio and is currently retrograde in Libra, which ties to many themes: trust, the secrets in the shadows, the equality in relationships, as well as justice and legalities. This reveals that people are operating out of an instinctive need to heal something from the past that has wounded them, and they are especially distrustful of current—or any—politics. Mercury is backtracking through Scorpio, as well, which creates a further need to investigate the shadows and bring them to light. Despite many people calling this a “Blue Wave,” many opponents will question the facts—but because the sun and Mercury are conjunct (in the same place) on November 4, 2026, it will be very hard to dispute anything.
Beyond this, Mars, our planet of passion and fire, will begin to lose strength and slow down as of November 5, 2026. Our red planet will retrograde from January 10, 2027, until April 1, 2027, but still linger in the past until June 7, 2027. This unveils that all attacks, actions, and fiery movement forward will need to be reviewed during that period—especially when it comes to what Mars rules: war, military, aggression, and to a degree masculine figures. Men will likely fall during the Mars retrograde, with strength slightly depleted for everyone. However, it can also reawaken a desire to conquer situations, people, or enemies from the past—which will echo throughout that time frame. Mars will retrograde initially in Virgo, which is collectively tied to “the working class” and “staff,” as well as anything to do with strength or physical health. Then, Mars will retrograde in Leo, which will bring a great need to address situations aligned with leadership, entertainment, and our passions. Situations involving past relationships, especially those that are sexual or combative in nature, may emerge as topics of discussion. People fighting for children will likely resurface and cause many people to be inflamed with fury.
When the 120th Congress arrives on January 3, 2027, the personal planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) will all be “awake.” This is very positive and illustrates that after months of sorting out details, all members—regardless of political party—will have an eagerness to make sense of reality. Venus links with Jupiter on this date, which illuminates that, again, no matter the politicians’ associations, they will hunger for decadence, luxury, and laughter—but may be playing many decks of cards. The sun will still be close to Mercury, which will still bring clarity. But with Mars entering a retrograde for months ahead, the past will be the main “struggle” and focus not only until April, but likely until June. I do not sense major platforms will reach the next stage until after June 7, 2027—although the back-and-forth pivot around everything that has occurred in recent years could still provide traction and revisions.
The last major factor that I will bring up is that Pluto, our planet of intensity but also rebirth, has been moving through the high skies of Aquarius since 2023 and will continue to do so for decades. Pluto brings out the darkness, pain, and shadow side to everything that it touches but does so to grant more power and resurrection, like a phoenix reborn from the ashes. Only from pain and shadow can we emerge into the light. Pluto often reveals what we don’t want to see and tends to give immense power to anything it touches in order to encourage collective evolution. Aquarius—the sign that it spins within—rules “the people,” the community, and the civil rights movements. It also ties to how individuals connect and, in modern times, to technology, social media, and even AI. These areas of humanity are all radically and tremendously evolving—but we must see the truth and the underbelly of it for us to emerge on a whole new level.
The United States of America’s Natal Chart: Midterms 2026
Let’s take a peek at the USA’s natal chart. The Declaration of Independence was birthed on July 4, 1776, at 4:50 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The USA has a Cancer sun, Sagittarius rising, and Aquarius moon. The first thing that I note is that Mercury and Venus are retrograding within the USA’s 11th house. The 11th house represents the “people,” the community, and, to a degree, has ties to politics. This rollback briefly touches the USA’s house of secrets and hidden situations and enemies, so this will also occur from within and without. Those belonging to the Democratic Party have labeled this a “Blue Wave.” I just want to point out some things right here: not only have we been rolling in the skies of Scorpio (water = blue; depths = blue), but these planets have been spinning backward in the USA’s sector of “the public.” This reveals that a wide range of people want to shift what has happened not just politically, but for themselves and the communities around them. They are recognizing this not just in a personal sense of value and pleasure (Venus-related), but also in relation to daily affairs and ideas (Mercury-related). The USA’s natal sun is receiving a square from Saturn—and the natal (birth) Saturn of the USA is also experiencing a square from Saturn at this time. This shows that the leadership (the sun) and structure (Saturn) are under immense pressure and need to realign. Saturn, the planet of hardship but also long-term stability, awakens on December 10, 2026. Very significant news will arrive around that time relating to how people are seeking to invigorate—or shift—leadership. Watch very carefully the situations unfolding around early March (and the weeks before and after, but in particular March 3, 2027, and March 15, 2027). There will be much to be seen.
The United States of America Democratic Party Natal Chart: Midterms 2026
Moving onward, let’s peer within the USA’s Democratic Party natal chart. The Democratic Party, in its current incarnation, is said to have been born on January 8, 1828. We do not have a conclusive time, so unfortunately we cannot see its exact Ascendant. It was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This makes the Democratic Party a Capricorn sun with a Virgo moon.
Speaking from what we can see, we note that the sun of the Democratic Party is opposite the sun of the USA. This creates a polarity, enhancing union when working together, but strong opposition when others in leadership do not agree—particularly male leaders of the opposing party. This is fascinating because I just discovered this. The Democratic Party’s natal chart reveals that its sun is united with the planet Neptune, which showcases that it is driven by spirituality, creativity, and visionaries—but at times, those who are unclear on the path because belief has taken on a hopeful air that cannot manifest those dreams into reality. This juxtaposition between hope, faith, and reality is ever-present within the Democratic Party.
As for specific energy going on, Saturn, the planet of hardship but also restructuring, has been united with the USA Democratic Party’s natal (birth) Pluto since 2025 intensely and briefly in 2026. This has caused a tremendous hunger for rebirth and reestablishing a new order. They will continually restructure, but there will be a significant need to do so, especially in the weeks surrounding April 1, 2027.
In the more present times, we are seeing that Venus and Mercury are retrograding in ways that are demanding them to “rally the troops,” gain activism, and then shift how they are presenting themselves in the public domain. This all occurs during the Midterms, almost as if it’s a “rebranding” that continues to build onward into the New Year of 2027.
The United States of America Republican Party Natal Chart: Midterms 2026
Now let’s venture into the USA’s Republican Party natal chart. The Republican Party, in the current incarnation, was born on March 20, 1854. I do not have a conclusive time right now as to when, so cannot analyze their Ascendant. They were founded in Ripon, Wisconsin. The Republican Party is a Pisces sun and Sagittarius moon.
The first thing I noticed upon peering within is that the Republican Party always seeks to focus on long-term efforts, but is tied to the past, structure, and hierarchy. This is because their sun is sextile Saturn. Their moon squares Neptune, creating a confusion relating to feminine, spiritual, or creative topics—which is what the Democratic Party’s natal chart inherently favors. Despite this, with Mars trine Pluto in the Republican Party’s natal chart, they have a fire within them that always seeks to win. This grants them great power when they win, but can make them tremendously ferocious when there is a loss, especially against opponents.
I would like to note that the Republican Party has been having a particularly challenging time, not just since 2024, but especially 2025, and it can even be felt in 2026. This is because Saturn, the planet of hardship, has been sitting upon or close to its sun. This creates a deep need for understanding the path for the coming thirty years, as well as a sense of being beneath a dark cloud and a hunger for restructuring. This is one of the most significant factors in some of the Midterms, as this party has sought to align itself with a leader (ruled by the sun, as well as masculine figures). To add to existing challenges, Saturn is returning to orbit near the Republican Party’s Mercury (and distantly the sun) in December 2026, which will bring a sense of darkness, sorrow, and a need for practicality around all communications, ideas, social media, and even legalities—particularly in the weeks surrounding December 10, 2026. In a sense, they are “setting up” the next thirty years of their lives, so they’re being granted an opportunity to shift and change their “communications,” ideas, and legalities. If they are to create a path forward that resonates with reality (tied to Saturn), they can forge great strength.
On a different note, with Saturn moving back and forth in the heavens, they have a chance to really solidify female voters, particularly around March 2, 2027. Saturn will link with their moon in Sagittarius. Beyond this, it could also tie to anything to do with the public, children, or engaging the emotions of voters.
Specifically relating to the present times of the Midterms 2026, the Mercury and Venus retrogrades are causing an immense ripple of confusion when it comes to legalities, situations related to overseas struggles, and also wealth gaps. People are coming to them seeking more, but with the planets out of orbit, no one has an answer. If they do not navigate this well, it will tarnish the Republican Party’s reputation—which again, they must be very strategic about.
Where Are We Headed from the USA Midterms of 2026?
One of my favorite things I’ve learned by diving into this study is that the Democratic Party’s moon—which is at 28 degrees of Virgo—is exactly opposite the Republican Party’s sun—which is at 29 degrees of Pisces. This reveals that with the sun and moon opposite one another, they cannot and will not escape each other, but it also reveals a sense of the masculine and feminine always needing to balance. With them taking place in Virgo and Pisces, the two parties can not only affect both men and women but also form genuine partnership together. It also showcases how the struggle between “reality and the working class” will always oppose—or align—with the “dream that we can be something spiritual and unique.” But no matter where you stand—the United States of America can truly unite and build a better world not only for the people who live here, but for anyone who still believes in us.
