Why Libra Season 2026 Feels Like Unfinished Business
Libra season 2026 runs from September 22 to October 23, and it opens the way it always does, at the equinox, when the light turns over and the year starts tipping toward dark. You know what this month is supposed to be for. Balance, and the polite negotiation between what you want and what somebody else wants.
This year it doesn’t work like that. Venus rules Libra, and on October 3 she stations retrograde at 8 degrees of Scorpio and stays that way until November 13. The planet in charge of balance, worth, and desire spends two-thirds of her own season moving backward.
What Libra Season Actually Feels Like in the Body
Libra rules relationships, beauty, and what you decide is worth having. In the body, though, this season tends to feel like the beginning of hibernation. Nesting. The holidays are about to start up, the pumpkin spice is everywhere, the colors turn, and the fall energy gets abundant fast. Your body starts preparing for what’s coming before your calendar does.
There’s something exciting about knowing it’s going to get colder. There’s also something bittersweet in it, because October is another reflection point at the end of the last quarter, and it’s where you make peace with what you did this year and with what you didn’t do.
The Aries Full Moon on September 26
The full moon will be at 3 degrees 37 minutes of Aries at 9:49 a.m. PT, three days into the season, conjunct Neptune at 3 degrees of Aries within about a degree.
Aries is the self and very “me.” Libra is the other and screams, “there’s no I in team.” The egotistical version of Aries is the self all by itself, and the egotistical version of Libra is codependence. What this full moon may show you is that you can be your full self, release the expectations other people have of you, and live authentically while still keeping healthy relationships with the people around you.
This lunation asks you to shed the codependent identities. It asks you to build circles and circumstances and communities around you that still leave room for you to be an individual. And underneath all of that, it’s asking who you are. If you say who you are, are you going to show up in that no matter what the circumstances are?
Neptune sitting on this one is worth knowing before you answer. You see yourself clearly when you’re telling the truth and your nervous system is calm at the same time. Past that, the way to tell the difference between actually seeing yourself and wanting something badly enough that it looks like clarity is to listen to your body. Intuition is silent. Anxiety, or just wanting what you want, is loud in your body.
Venus Stations Retrograde on October 3
Eleven days into the season, the ruler abandons the strategy the season is named for.
Venus retrograde has always been a wake-up call about your value and your worth. It’s about standing firm in this place and this space and not wavering on what you desire. She stations in Scorpio, backs into Libra on October 25, and turns direct at 22 degrees of Libra on November 13. That’s six weeks of going back over what you want.
The same morning, Mars at 3 degrees of Leo opposes Pluto retrograde at 3 degrees of Aquarius. Pluto stations direct at that same degree twelve days later on October 15, so it’s barely moving when Mars hits it. Depending on where those degrees fall in your chart, it could feel like a power struggle you can’t talk your way out of.
Why 2018 Keeps Coming Up
Venus retrograde returns to the same signs every eight years. The last time you had this exact combination was October to November of 2018, also Scorpio into Libra.
Think about where you were. 2018 sat in the middle of a new system politically, economically, and socially. It was also the peak of some incredible community, and nobody had any awareness of what was coming two years later in March of 2020. For a lot of people, 2018 was the last real stretch of freedom they can remember.
Venus has a way of making you look at the big picture when it comes to money and value. Moving back and forth between Libra and Scorpio, she asks two questions at once. What do you actually love and desire? Then Scorpio wants to know why, and it wants an answer deeper than the first one you give.
The Libra New Moon on October 10
The new moon lands at 17 degrees 21 minutes of Libra at 8:50 a.m. PT, sextile Jupiter.
Its own ruler is retrograde, which makes this a second-chance moon more than a fresh-start one. It challenges you to get clear about your value, your desires, what you think you’re worth, and what you’ve quietly decided you’re not worth.
It also asks you to look at your relationship to those things, because Libra is about relationships. It’s about how you merge with the other, and the other doesn’t always mean a person. It can mean how you merge with money. How you merge socially. How you merge with your titles.
The Venus Cazimi on October 23
Venus meets the sun at 0 degrees 45 minutes of Scorpio at 8:50 p.m. PT, hours after Libra season hands off to Scorpio. This is the turning point of the entire retrograde.
Here’s what to pay attention to that day. Be honest about who you are. Stop skating around the unsaid things with people. Who you are in private is who you should be in public. Shine a light on yourself, all the parts, all the depth.
Here’s What Libra Season 2026 May Bring for Your Rising Sign
Libra rising. Everything is in your 1st house this month: your body and your name. Venus stations retrograde in your 2nd house of money and self-worth, then backs into your 1st on October 25. So the question becomes how you introduce the new version of you without losing yourself again. Lean into who you are in relationship with yourself, other people, your body, and what you find valuable. And make sure what you value is clearly yours and not somebody else’s influence on you.
Scorpio rising. The sun spends the month in your 12th house while Venus stations retrograde in your 1st, and the cazimi lands at the very start of your sign, which hits hardest if your Ascendant sits in the first few degrees of Scorpio. Something may have to end privately before your season opens. What version of yourself are you about to shed in public? You don’t have to sugarcoat or water yourself down for people to understand how layered you are. That’s the whole point. Any past entanglement you’ve been leaning on, spiritually or emotionally, could be asking you to switch it up and stand firmer in the choices you already made.
Sagittarius rising. Your 11th house of friends and future plans gets the light, but Venus retrogrades back through your 12th, into everything you’ve kept in the shadows. Something hidden may resurface and ask you to tell the truth about it, so you can call in the community and the opportunities you want without the shame of what people might find out. Do you want a close circle or do you want an audience? Neither one is wrong, though Venus in Scorpio is going to ask you to dig deep and answer why. Isolating yourself doesn’t build the circles you say you want.
Capricorn rising. Career and reputation get the season, and then the full moon on September 26 drops into your 4th house of home and family. Libra season may run a wellness check on how fulfilling your work life is, then run that same check on your home life. If those two are living on opposite ends of the spectrum, this month could push you to merge them. You can’t keep dissociating from one to survive the other. It’s hard on the body, and it starts to feel like you’re Jekyll and Hyde.
Aquarius rising. Belief, travel, the big picture, all of it lights up your 9th house while Pluto sits in your 1st and Mars opposes it from your 7th on October 3. When you have strong Aquarius placements, you’re never wrong; you’re just early. The 9th house is where you go out, learn something, and come back and pour it into the people around you, and that doesn’t have to mean getting on a plane. It can be a book. It can be learning something you have no business learning yet. Show people your vision instead of convincing them of it. You don’t have to earn that. Be yourself and trust that the vision is unfolding.
Pisces rising. Your 8th house of intimacy and shared resources takes the season while Venus retrogrades through your 9th. You may end up swimming in parts of the ocean you’ve never visited. Try not to check out or hide your feelings here. Take seriously how unfairly you may have been treating yourself just to keep the peace, and know that it’s okay to make a mistake without the self-deprecation that usually follows. You are not alone in this. You deserve bonds that are healthy and intimate at the same time, and both of those can exist together.
Aries rising. The season sits in your 7th house, and the full moon on September 26 lands directly in your 1st. Where people get the 7th house wrong is assuming it’s only romance. It covers your professional partnerships, your platonic ones, and the most important one in there is the relationship you have with yourself. So are you still fighting to prove who you are to other people? What they’re reflecting back to you may be a mirror instead of a criticism. The real question is whether these relationships are keeping you the same or helping you level up.
Taurus rising. Work, health, the daily grind, all of it in your 6th house, and your ruler is retrograde in your 7th, so other people’s needs are in the mix. You enjoy a slow morning and a slower pace, and you also like beautiful things, which can quietly turn into overworking. So which part of your routine is draining you? Build the day around your body instead, nervous system included. Move at a pace that honors the groundedness you need to succeed.
Gemini rising. You get to play this month. Creativity, romance, and pleasure fill your 5th house, though Venus is retrograde in your 6th for the whole season, so it may have to fit around the calendar. What have you been putting off because it didn’t look productive? What has your inner child been screaming at you to revisit? This is a good stretch for something kinetic, something you do with your hands. Your brain is amazing, and you know how to use it, so let this season be the one where you get curious again.
Cancer rising. Your 4th house of home and roots holds the sun this month, while the full moon on September 26 lands up in your 10th. Get honest about what’s shifting underneath you. Who do you call home, and how good does your home actually feel? Listen to how you want to be nurtured as the light turns over, and ask whether your home is supporting you going into winter. Declutter. Throw out what doesn’t make you feel nourished and bring in what does.
Leo rising. Your 3rd house of voice and message gets the season, and Mars in your 1st opposes Pluto in your 7th on October 3. What have you not been telling the truth about, to yourself or to anybody else? Your presence has always been powerful, and this is the season people actually want to hear what you have to say. You have opinions, a voice, wisdom, and a whole internal world nobody assumes is there. Do your words match your actions? Say the thing and let the chips fall.
Virgo rising. Money and self-worth are a focus through your 2nd house, with Venus retrograde in your 3rd, so the money conversations get complicated before they settle. Look hard at what you value and what you’ve been tolerating. Are you asking for what you need in order to thrive, or accepting the bare minimum from yourself and from other people? Is your worth a price, or is it a feeling? You’re one of the most practical people walking. This season may still ask you to want something intangible that doesn’t make sense yet.
