Another Retrograde Brings the Need for Deep Self-Reflection

July 23, 2023

At 5:42 a.m.: Chiron goes retrograde in Aries

In the morning, wounded-healer asteroid Chiron stations retrograde! Chiron’s transits concern how we navigate the residual effects of past trauma. When Chiron is direct, experiences with people in our surrounding environment trigger crises of confidence. How we address challenges to our outer reality helps to reshape our inner reality.  Yet, when Chiron is retrograde, conflict tends to be internalized and insecurities are dealt with in private. We recognize the subtle ways we keep ourselves locked into painful cycles by keeping a past incident’s impact fresh in our minds. We assume that by doing so, we won’t make ourselves a mark for future bullies or aggressors.  But in actuality, we become our own worst bullies by living in a state of hypervigilance! Over the next five months, Chiron’s retrograde suggests introspection as a means to healing. When we do our self-work, our emotional resilience impacts everyone around us. Our communities become healthier when everyone refuses to bring their past baggage into the present. Chiron will be retrograde until December 26, 2023.

At 2:39 p.m.: Mercury is square Uranus

Mid-afternoon, Mercury in Leo squares off with Uranus in Taurus, provoking anxiety. This transit functions a bit like Mercury retrograde, in that it prompts misunderstandings and communication gaffes. Our attention span is lacking now. We can be distracted by surprise correspondence or strange news.  Avoid signing contracts or agreeing to deals today. While the fine print may be in good order, we’re liable to overlook details by reading through them in haste. Our listening skills could be better. However, arguments can still escalate with friends or business partners because we’re not paying attention. Consider choosing a different day to have important conversations!
