At 1:10 a.m.: The moon is square Mercury

After midnight, the Virgo moon squares Mercury in Gemini. This is the final aspect before Mercury stations retrograde, provoking agitation and stress. Mercury, additionally, serves as the ruler of the Virgo moon, causing us to be extra critical of contrary opinions and ideas.  Our speech can be offensive. We may behave as if those in our company are below us intellectually. Rather than projecting our feelings onto others, we might try to be extra reflective of what we believe and why. Do we have evidence to support our claims? Is it truth or a hunch?

At 4:47 a.m.: Mercury goes retrograde in Gemini

Around dawn, Mercury stations retrograde, where it will reverse until June 3, visiting Taurus during its backward motion. Beginning its backspin on its Geminian home turf suggests we should be extra vigilant of how we use our words in the coming weeks. Expect misunderstandings, lost correspondence, or contractual gaffes. If possible, delay important decisions for a later time.  As always, Mercury retrograde does not spell doom and gloom. It facilitates upsets so that we might pause and reconsider how we communicate with others. Because everyone is at the mercy of this transit to varying degrees, be mindful that things said in haste may not be due to ill will. Exercise patience and avoid taking embarrassment to heart. Instead, use this transit for reflection and reevaluation.
